Mendocino Counts! 2020 Census
Stand up and be counted!
Despite the crisis, the 2020 Census is continuing on! Last day for households to self-respond online, by phone or by mail
is September 30, 2020.
You can complete the census:
- online—My2020census.gov
- by phone—1-844-330-2020
- with a traditional paper form
Every person in your household should be counted, regardless of age, citizenship, or immigration status.
Here’s why it’s important:
- Representation—Census data determines the number of representatives each state is allowed in Congress. An accurate census count ensures you can participate in democracy by electing officials to represent your concerns in Washington D.C..
- Emergency Preparedness—Census data informs community planners about the number of people living in different areas so they can provide the right amount of emergency services for each area.
- Federal tax funds—Census returns tax funds to our county for schools, veterans, environmental protections, & more. You can see a list of all the benefits here.
