César Chávez Fiesta

César Chávez Fiesta

César Chávez was one of the most influential labor leaders of the twentieth century. In 1968, Robert F. Kennedy referred to him as “one of the heroic figures of our time” and his story is a fascinating one that resonates to this day.

In honoring the legacy of civil rights activist, environmentalist, and educator, César Chávez, we invite you to join us for our Fiesta of Mexican-American Accordion Music, a virtual concert featuring the talent of local musician, Roy Helsing.

“César Chávez is an important historical figure to those like me: young Hispanic activists trying to make things better for everyone, including Latin Americans. He was a powerful voice for the voiceless, underpaid farm workers and put continuous pressure on people to recognize and act to improve the poor conditions that wealthy business owners put on their workers. His memory should be honored and celebrated for all the good he did.” – Ren Ramos, Fort Bragg Library Intern
