Chromebooks at the Library

The Mendocino County Library offers Chromebook laptops on a first-come, first-served basis.
Mendocino County Library cardholders must meet the following conditions to checkout a Chromebook:
- Patron must meet the unmet needs portion of the user agreement to borrow a Chromebook.
- Borrowers must have Mendocino general (mg) cards in good standing “owing $20.00 or less.”
- Borrowers must be adults – 18 years old or older.
- Children and Teens must have an adult (parent/legal guardian) check out a Chromebook for them using the adult’s library card. The adult must be responsible for the child’s use.
- Teens may bring or print out the slip for their parents to review, initial, and sign in the parent permission area. The teen can sign as Borrower when checking the device out. Parent may cancel this permission at any time – please date and note this on permission slip.
Chromebook kits include the following components:
- Chromebook laptop
- Charger with cable
- Instruction brochures
- Case
Chromebooks:
- Are not requestable or renewable, and cannot be put on hold.
- One Chromebook can be checked out for 28 days at a time.
- Patron will be charged for any damage, missing parts, or loss of Chromebooks.
- Chromebooks must be picked up and returned directly to staff at the branch where checked out; they may not be placed in the book drop.
- All patrons must follow the Mendocino County Library Internet Use and Guidelines when using a library Chromebook.
