Digital Checkouts ~ Mendocino County Library Press Release
Library Reinstates Digital Checkout Limits
Post Date:07/10/2020 2:55 PM
The Library carefully monitors the costs of all materials and digital resources, and some digital expenses have been increasing exponentially over the past few years. The checkout limits for digital items, such as Hoopla, were temporarily increased to provide additional online materials accessibility from home in response to the COVID-19 crisis as physical materials were inaccessible due to the closure of all library branches.
The Library now provides Curbside Checkout Service which allows the public to place holds and pick up physical library materials. Beginning July 1st, the Library reinstated previous digital checkout limits due to the decline in funding related to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the increasing costs of digital check outs.
Below are the checkout limits effective July 1, 2020:
Overdrive – 8 checkouts at a time & 5 holds at a time
Hoopla – 4 checkouts per month
Beginning August 1, 2020
Kanopy – 5 checkouts per month
Please note the many excellent ebooks available through other sources such as Enki and Enki biblioboard: www.mendolibrary.org/online-resources/ebooks-entertainment.
