Summer Reading Kickoff Event – 6/16/15 –  11 am to 2 pm

Come in and sign up for Summer Reading.  Besides our schedule of events and your reading log, you can get personalized reading suggestions as well as information on how to use your library card to get free and discounted museum passes this summer.

Summer Story Time – Every Thursday at 10:15 A.M.

Join us for stories about all sorts of heroes, songs, and fingerplays.  All ages welcome.

Kids Movie Series

Join us for three movies starring some very different heroes.  Popcorn will be provided.  All films start at 2 p.m.

  • 6/17/15 – The Lego Movie: An ordinary Lego construction worker, thought to be the prophesied ‘Special’, is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the Lego universe into eternal stasis.
  • 7/8/15 – The Boxtrolls: A young orphaned boy raised by underground cave-dwelling trash collectors tries to save his friends from an evil exterminator.
  • 8/5/15 – Big Hero 6: The special bond that develops between plus-sized inflatable robot Baymax, and prodigy Hiro Hamada, who team up with a group of friends to form a band of high-tech heroes.

Samurai Origami – 7/7/25 – 10 A.M to Noon

Join Kathy Silva and learn how to make your own Samurai helmet out of paper.  Children ten and under need to bring an experienced folder with them.

Northern California Bats – 7/8/15 – 11 A.M.

Join us and the folks from Northern California Bats as we learn about these little superheroes of the animal kingdom and get a chance to meet the bats and the folks who rescue and help rehabilitate them.

Local Heroes – Send a Ranger – 7/15/15 – 11 A.M.

When we think about our State Parks, we think of Park Rangers, the folks who seem to know everything about nature.  Come meet one of our local State Park Interpreters from MacKerricher State Park and learn about both our local park and the Junior Rangers program.

Zumba For Kids – 7/21/15 – 1 P.M. to 4 P.M.

Get ready to groove with our Zumba for kids event.  Join us to give Zumba a try and have some fitness fun.

Local Heroes – Fort Bragg Police – 7/31/15 – 2 P.M.

Come meet one of our local officers and find out what it’s like to work for the police.

Make Your Own Superhero Shield – 8/4/15 – 3 P.M.

Come make your own miniature superhero shield!

Storyteller John Weaver – 8/12/15 – 10:30 A.M.

Storyteller John Weaver will spin tall tales to enchant and excite.

Put On Your Cape! – 8/15/15 – 1 P.M.

Wrap up Summer Reading by making your own superhero cape and recommending your favorite book.  Kids will have the chance to make a no-sew superhero cape of their own followed by a photo shoot with their favorite book.  Remember to turn in your reading log for your prize if you haven’t already.
